Meena is one of the most successful actresses in South Indian cinema. Meena was born on September 16, 1975, in Chennai, India. She became a heroine in a very young age when she was studying 10th std she was just 15 years old. The characters she made were really matured. This made her a very successful heroine.she is well known for her 'beautiful eyes', 'charming smile' and 'sweet baby voice'.

Meena started her career as a child artist in the flim "Nenjangal" in "1982" which featured Dr. Sivaji Ganesan in the lead role.Very soon she became heroine in 1990,at the age of 15 in the flim "oru pudhiya kathai" before that she did a short role in the flim "karthavyam" which was dubbed as "Vyjayanthi IPS" in the same year

- Meena who was still very young at that time and was doing child roles. Her mother Rajamallika brought her to A.M.Ratnam's office for an offer. Even though she looked chubby, they felt she fitted the bill. So in a very young age she started her carrier as a heroine.

She acted with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, and later became a the star in her own right. She had hits with Muthu, Ejaman, Veera and- Avvai Shanmughi. Then she paired with all the actors with whom she acted as a "child artist" like "Rajini, Sathyaraj, Prabhu" and many more actors.

Following the release of her movies with Rajinikanth in Japan and their commercial success, Meena's popularity also rose in Japan. She has acted in - almost all the south Indian languages like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada etc and opposite almost all the leading actors in these languages.

She was in the film industry as the top heroine in Telugu and Tamil for almost one and a half decades successfully from the early- 1990s. She often portrayed characters with unidimensional personality with no negativity and shades - of grey. She was also known restrict glamour roles though she acted in a few glamourous roles like Maaman magal in Tamil opposite Sathyaraj and Muta Mestri in Telugu opposite Chiranjeevi. She has also acted in Malayalam movies. In the Kannada remake of Autograph,she played Sneha's role of Divya. She is currently starring as the lead in the Sun TV serial - Lakshmi.

Meena unhappy with Kuselan team Rajinikanth’s Kuselan (Kathanayukudu in Telugu) a recent release got a lukewarm response from Rajini’s diehard fans and critics till today. Meena, who acted in the film in a significant role opposite Pasupathy, has said that she is not happy about the treatment which she has been getting by the highly-respected team of Kuselan. ^[1]

- She did her schooling till 8th std in Vidyodhya schools in Chennai, So busy was she with her acting career she had to discontinue schooling in 8th standard. she later underwent private coaching and completed her 10th std .She went on to get her MA (history)degree from University of Madras through open university system in the year "2006". -

- She is friendly with Maheswari, Ramba, Sanghavi and Roja among actresses. Roja and Meena, in their younger age, resembled each other so much in fact Meena has acted as Roja's younger sister at least in 5 or 6 movies in Telugu. Even in peak of their competition when they acted together, Roja & Meena have been thick friends.
